Malawi Closes CAETE 2024 with Remarkable Success! The Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) proudly concludes its participation at the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE), leaving a lasting impact on trade and investment opportunities between Malawi and China. Key Highlights from Malawi’s Pavilion: Exposure to Value-Addition Machinery Malawian exporters gained critical insights into advanced processing technologies, empowering them to enhance their position in the global value chain—boosting competitiveness and profitability. Strong Demand for Malawian Products We secured significant orders for groundnuts, soya beans, and macadamia nuts from international buyers, reinforcing Malawi’s reputation as a high-quality agro-producer. 

Key orders include: 100,000 MT of Soya beans 30,000 MT of Groundnuts 10,000 MT of Dried Chillies Open-ended contract for Macadamia nuts Sorghum Record-Breaking Gemstone Sales Malawi’s precious minerals and gemstones attracted exceptional interest, with sales exceeding expectations and showcasing the country’s rich mineral wealth. Three major deals were signed for direct sourcing of: 30 MT of Amethyst 1,000 MT of Milky Quartz Open-ended order for Mica Arts & Crafts Showcase Over 5 tons of inquiries were recorded for Malawi’s handcrafted arts and crafts, highlighting global demand for the country’s creative treasures. 

Investor Engagement Several investors visited the Malawi Pavilion, expressing keen interest in opportunities across agriculture, mining, and value-added industries—further solidifying Malawi’s position as an emerging investment destination. Beyond CAETE, Malawi’s permanent pavilion in Changsha will continue serving as a strategic showcase for our products. 

MITC is also developing plans for an accompanying warehouse facility to maintain minimum stock levels of premium Malawian goods, ensuring sustained market access and seamless trade facilitation with Chinese partners. This expo has not only opened new trade avenues but also strengthened Malawi-China economic relations, paving the way for long-term partnerships and industrialization.
