The Malawi Investment and Trade Centre (MITC) is a Statutory Corporation established by the Investment and Export Promotion Act of 2012. It is mandated to attract, promote, encourage and facilitate investment in all sectors of our economy and to find export markets for goods and services manufactured in Malawi. It is there to fast track, ease and minimize cost of doing business in Malawi for both new and existing companies by offering efficient and reliable one stop services to the business community.
An excellent and rare opportunity has arisen to engage qualified, highly motivated and well experienced persons to fill the following vacant positions at MITC. All positions are tenable at MITC’s Head Office in Lilongwe.
A. TRADE PROMOTION OFFICER(GRADE MITC 5)
The incumbent will be reporting to the Trade Promotion Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(a) Providing and disseminating trade information using the various marketing tools within the organisation.
(b) Following-up trade inquiries to determine specific interests and requirements with the ultimate aim of actualising trade deals.
(c) Registering trade leads, following-up activities and reporting regularly for appropriate intervention.
(d) Organizing and delivering presentations at local and international trade promotion workshops, seminars, and conferences.
(e) Planning, scheduling, and implementing proactive marketing activities geared at attracting new export markets such as direct mail and telemarketing campaigns i.e. trade fair participation, buyer/seller meets, trade missions, and extension services to exporters.
(f) Meeting with and providing information, counselling, and support to local and foreign buyers interested in exploring new business opportunities in Malawi.
(g) Assisting prospective buyers in arranging site visits and in obtaining necessary Government approvals, permits, and licenses.
(h) Receiving inquiries from potential exporters looking for markets for their products.
(i) Advising prospective exporters on export processes and sector specifics.
(j) Reporting monthly on the status of assigned trade leads.
QUALIFICATIONS
The incumbent should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration specializing in marketing,economics or comparable qualifications with a minimum of Two (2) years’ relevant experience in marketing, sales, or public relations. Good Interpersonal skills as well as computer literacy are essential. Applicants with specific experience in country trade promotion will have an added advantage.
B. INVESTOR SERVICES OFFICER (GRADE MITC 5)
The incumbent will be reporting to the Investor Services Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(a) Assisting prospective investors in applying for and obtaining required investment approvals and permits.
(b) Maintaining existing contacts with investors and providing assistance and/or counsel and guidance, as appropriate, in resolving investment facilitation challenges.
(c) Assisting investors in identifying and gaining access to land, working closely with the Lands Department and relevant local authorities.
(d) Assisting investors in getting access to and/or resolving problems relating to energy, communications, transportation, and other utilities and services.
(e) Registering investor service/facilitation and follow-up activities, utilizing the MITC’s Customer Relationship Management(CRM) system.
(f) Assisting prospective investors in arranging visits to Malawi, including assistance with hotel reservations, appointments, and information gathering.
(g) Accompanying prospective investors on visits to potential investment sites.
(h) Assisting local and foreign investors to identify joint venture or subcontracting partners.
(i) Reporting monthly on the status of all assigned investors or investment leads.

QUALIFICATIONS
The Investor Services Officer should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Economics. He/she should have a minimum of Two (2) years of relevant experience. Experience in a customer service or customer relations position, or in consultancy, finance, marketing, or business analysis is especially relevant. Good oral and written communications skills as well as computer literacy are essential. Applicants with specific experience in country investment promotion and facilitation will have an added advantage.
