Malawi is part of the 14 African countries that are participating in the virtual Africa Investment Forum organized by the UK Department for International Trade on 20th January 2021.
The event follows the landmark UK-Africa Investment Summit that was hosted by the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, in London last year.
Malawi’s Minister of Trade Sosten Gwengwe said the focus for Malawi at this conference is to attract investors that are interested in the agriculture sector.
‘we are looking at investors who can invest in high-value crops because there are many other non-traditional crops which are high earning including cannabis, with our land resource we wish to commercialise the agriculture sector, so this is a right platform for us to find partners in this.’
The Africa Investment Conference provides a platform for UK and African businesses to make connections and learn more about the support offered by the UK Government to business and investors.
The conference will focus on four key sectors of Sustainable Infrastructure, Renewable Energies, Financial & Professional Services, and Agriculture and AgriTech.
