The 17th Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Exim Bank Conclave on India-Africa growth partnership was held in India, New-Delhi from 19th to 20th July 2022.
The conclave was organized by CII in partnership with Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) and Ministry of External Affairs, (MEA), Government of India. The meeting was being held under the theme “Creating Shared Futures”.
The conclave saw the participation of over 40 high level ministers from 22 countries, including Malawi, Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Niger, Mauritius, Sudan, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Zambia, Tanzania, Togo, South Sudan, Zimbabwe and the Gambia. Bilateral and regional discussions were held, and also opportunities were presented in services sector, health sector, agriculture, power and energy, infrastructure, IT and food processing.
In his remarks Chief Executive Officer for MITC, Paul Kwengwere said the conclave provided a platform to strengthen bilateral engagements and discuss emerging economic opportunities with regards to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA).

‘We managed to meet potential investors and buyers who are interested to do business with Malawi. Some of the investors we met are interested in our manufacturing, education, health as well as mining sectors.’
‘We also held a meeting with Exim Bank of India, to discuss the opportunity of the bank financing some of the projects that Malawi has and we are optimistic that something tangible will come out of it,’ said Kwengwere.
CII-Exim Bank Conclave on India-Africa Project Partnership was launched in 2005. Over the last sixteen editions, the conclave has played a pivotal role in encouraging Indian companies to establish and grow in Africa.
